Dementia Today - National Learning Workshop

Keynote Speakers

Dr Phil Wood is a geriatrician working in Auckland. He is director of “The Memory Clinic” a unit designed primarily to host research in the treatment of cognitive disorders primarily of the Alzheimer’s Type. He has roles and affiliations with The University of Auckland, Waikato, Waitemata and Tairawhiti District Health Boards.

Sally McPherson, RPN, RN, BA, Dip Soc Sci (NStud), is a registered nurse with a long commitment to mental health and a special interest in older people. Since 1984 she has worked in a psychogeriatric assessment unit, a psychogeriatric day hospital and a community intervention team for The Psychiatric Service for the Elderly in Christchurch.

An interest in team work with carers, both paid and unpaid and other health professionals allows her to share her passion for making a difference to the lives of those elders with mental illness, especially dementia, and those who care for them. It is an area that constantly challenges Sally in both personal and professional ways.

Making a Difference Together
