New site for Nelson services
The former BP site at Annesbrook has been purchased by Presbyterian Support Upper South Island to replace their current premises in Halifax Street, Nelson, and sites used for other services in the region.
Regional Manager Chris Walsh says the new site will enable them to consolidate services under one roof, as opposed to the three sites Presbyterian Support currently use.
“This is an exciting time for us, as Presbyterian Support has just launched its Family Works brand with an emphasis on youth, families and intergenerational connections, and having all our services under one roof will assist us
accomplish these aims,” says Mr Walsh.
In addition to housing the Family Works youth workers and staff working with support services for older people, the building will provide new and larger facilities for the MACS Club. This offers a place where older people who need support or live alone can meet, make friends, try out some fun activities, and have a hot midday meal. Transport can be arranged and experienced, caring staff are on hand. The new building will also be used for the day programme previously housed at Immanuel House, which supports people with dementia within a secure and caring environment. This is run in conjunction with the Alzheimers Society, with whom Presbyterian Support works closely.
The new building will be project managed by Arrow International, which has previously managed similar projects for Presbyterian Support in Rangiora and Ashburton.
