Residential Services for Older People

Care Philosophy

Presbyterian Support will provide an environment where the right of older people to respect, privacy and dignity are valued. An environment where they can enjoy security, acceptance, and companionship.

Everyone is encouraged to:

  • Maintain independence for as long as they are able.
  • Continue former, and develop new hobbies and activities.
  • Express their individuality
  • Contribute ideas and suggestions that may help us running their home.

Each of our Homes and Hospitals provides carer support and respite care service as well as longer term care.
Staff is in attendance twenty-four hours a day.
Our activity co-ordinators will assist with recreational interests if required.
Vans are available to allow residents to maintain their links with the community.

Care Options

Hospitals

Presbyterian Support's hospitals provide long-term medical and nursing care. There are a limited number of short-term beds available in each hospital for those needing to recuperate in a secure environment with experienced nursing staff.

Homes

Our homes are there for those people needing some support for their daily living. Support is provided by caring staff in a secure environment where companionship and involvement in activities is fostered.

Cottages

These suit people who still want to live independently while retaining the security and companionship of village life. Support is provided from the associated home or hospital, the type of support varies from site to site.

Dementia Care

Two of our sites have specialist dementia care areas, catering for resthome and hospital level care, Iona at Peacehaven Village and Oban at Resthaven Village. The areas are designed to allow residents freedom to walk safely both in the building or outside in the garden. Our staff are committed to helping residents maintain their independence and encourage families to remain involved with their relatives care, at whatever level they are comfortable.

Day Care

This service enables elderly people living in their own homes to join in recreational activities with residents in Presbyterian Support's homes and hospitals, and share in a midday meal. This provides a day's break for caregivers while providing stimulation in a safe caring environment.
