Great Mates is a partnership between Presbyterian Support Otago and the Mosgiel, North Taieri and East Taieri Presbyterian Churches.
Great Mates uses the mentoring approach to support young people on the Taieri, up to the age of 15, who are in need of extra adult support; based on the successful Buddy Programme hosted by Presbyterian Support Otago.
The young people are matched one-to-one with a trained adult volunteer (mate/mentor) with whom they spend 2-3 hours a week sharing simple activities, for example, going for walks, feeding the ducks.
A mate is a friend who is there to support, listen, respect and encourage their young person! Is this you?
