Now there is an information directory dedicated specifically for older people and their families/whanau which can be accessed online.

Enliven Positive Ageing Services has collaborated with the Hawke’s Bay District Health Board, Eldernet, the Hastings District Council and Napier City Council to create a web based information directory for older people - Enliven Connect. The initiative was developed as a response to research conducted for Presbyterian Support East Coast which identified a need for easy access to a range of information related to enabling older people to stay active and in their own home.

The Enliven Connect website has been developed by Eldernet in conjunction with PSEC to provide information plus advisory and advocacy services for older people, their carers, family, whanau, from a range of service organisations and primary care providers.

Eldernet’s Managing Director Eleanor Bodger will be attending the launch. “We all know that Internet technology offers great opportunities for gathering and disseminating information. What makes this exciting new project so unique is; the collaboration behind it, and the resourcing by PSEC of a community worker to support it.”

Rhose Shand, Enliven Connect community worker is available to provide one-to-one training and support for groups wishing to be included on the Enliven Connect Directory. Rhose says “Getting people to use this site is something I am really passionate about. Print versions can be made available upon request. ” Rhose can be contacted on 877 8193 Mon- Friday.

A formal launch will occur on Tuesday Feb 26th at the Hastings Central Library at 11am. Representatives from the collaborating groups will join the Enliven Connect team to showcase the website to local people over 65.
