Press Release August 2004

New Look for Presbyterian Support East Coast

Presbyterian Support East Coast launched a new look today, aimed at raising the profile of its many community services. “Presbyterian Support provides a wide range of innovative activities in the community” said CEO Shaun Robinson “we have updated the service logos and put the diversity of what we do in front of people through the images”.

“The analogy is Presbyterian Support East Coast as the wise and stable parent that has many children” said Mr Robinson. “We are best known for Elder Care and Cranford Hospice, but there are many other kids in the family. We have Child and Family services in both Hastings and Tairawhiti, and Puna Wairua the tikanga Maori unit, there are the disability support services – Rowan, the Beacon, and Mosaic Creative Space, the Evergreen Circle supports older people to remain at home, and the food service Quality Fresh.”

In total Presbyterian Support has sixteen services from Dannevirke to Gisborne and helps 3000 people a year.

“People who use our services relate to the specific place that they go to such as the Beacon, Woburn Elder Care or Cranford Hospice, so it makes sense to give the service names a higher profile” said Mr Robinson. “We also want the wider public to know about and understand all of this great work” said Shaun.

All signage, vehicles, and admin materials will carry the new logos from this point onwards.

“As a registered Charitable Trust and not for profit organisation, we rely heavily on community support to make up the difference between what the government will pay for and what the community needs” said Mr Robinson. “We are building our profile so that we get as much community involvement in the services as possible. This may be in the form of acting as a volunteer, or being an advocate, to making a donation or being a business sponsor for a particular service.”

“Presbyterian Support is still linked to the church, but our mission is to work for the whole East Coast community” said Mr Robinson. “I hope that people will notice our new and colourful signs and grow to understand and support all of our services”.
